How the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Stacks Up Against the Competition

If you are looking for a compact crossover vehicle, you’ve got a few choices. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a strong contender, and there are some clear advantages to driving this CUV.

The Jeep Compass, situated between the Cherokee and the Renegade, has some nice features. It comes in at a price point that’s a few hundred dollars above the Outlander Sport. Two deal breakers with the Compass are the uncomfortable seats and the narrower cabin.

The Ford Escape’s price tag is about $3,500 higher than the Outlander Sport. The Escape also gets negative attention for its too-firm seats. The Outlander gets slightly better gas mileage.

Kia offers the Sportage as an addition to the CUV category. Drivers of the Kia Sportage can expect to pay about $3,300 more for their crossover vehicle than Outlander drivers.

Among the competition, the Outlander offers the largest fuel tank, best mileage, and Mitsubishi’s famous 100,000 mile 10-year powertrain warranty. Mitsubishi Outlander Sport owners also enjoy five years of roadside assistance. While Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, and Ford offer a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty, a three year/36,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty, and a 5-year anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty, Mitsubishi has better warranties.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport warranty

The Powertrain Limited Warranty covers owners of this CUV for ten years or 100,000 miles. If any covered part fails during the 5-year/60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty, an authorized Mitsubishi dealer will use genuine Mitsubishi parts to fix it at no charge to the vehicle’s owner. There’s even a 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion and perforation limited warranty included with the Outlander Sport.

Economical and safe

Drivers of the Outlander get 30mpg on the highway and 24mpg in the city. Safety features are plentiful, making this one of the safest cars on the road. You’ll get active stability control, a rear-view camera system with a wide-angle view in reverse, lane departure warning, auto high beam headlights, seven-airbag safety system, forward collision mitigation, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

LED daytime running lights and fog lights make the Outlander Sport more visible while helping drivers see the road ahead, even in challenging weather conditions. Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction uses crumple zones to help keep passengers safer during high-impact collisions.

Optional roof racks and 49.5 cubic feet of cargo space make this a great vehicle for hauling gear. Fast-key passive entry makes unlocking your car easy when your keys are within range. Mitsubishi optimized interior insulators starting with the 2018 model to keep wind and road noise out of the cabin.

Push start, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and luxurious leather-wrapped interior accents make this one of the most thoughtfully designed CUV’s on the market, today.

All-Wheel Control (AWC) is Mitsubishi’s revolutionary electronically controlled monitoring system. It automatically transfers power to the wheels with the most traction to improve performance and handling.

For those who love a hands-on driving experience, Outlander Sports’ 5-speed manual transmission is a natural choice. The CVT automatic transmission offers excellent passing performance and powerful standing start with quiet shifting.

Power also has a great deal to do with control over deceleration. Brake Assist and Active Stability Control work together to aid with traction. Punishing Pennsylvania winter weather is no match for this package.

All Outlander models have the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) engine designed for low fuel consumption and maximum power input.

Technologically advanced

Three free months of Sirius XM satellite radio allows drivers to experience the incredible technology offered by Outlander Sport. Available Rockford Fosgate premium sound delivers 710 watts via nine speakers throughout the cabin. Rich bass comes through a 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch Control.

Bluetooth 2.0 technology with advanced speech recognition allows drivers to take a call or play music with a simple voice command. The 7-inch touchscreen display audio system is standard equipment with the 2018 Outlander Sport and newer models.
