The Competition Can’t Keep Up with Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV

If you are in the market for a vehicle that gets excellent fuel economy with a plug-in hybrid battery, you can’t beat the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Competitors, including the Kia Niro, Hyundai Kona, Chevy Volt, and Toyota Prius Prime have some real shortcomings.

The Hyundai Kona has less interior room than the Outlander PHEV. It goes 258 miles on a single charge, but won’t take you further without stopping to plug in. The Toyota Prius Prime travels just 25 miles powered only by the battery.

Green Car Reports calls the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV,

“a missing link in the market for plug-in cars.”

The Outlander PHEV is a best-seller in Europe, and now you can get one in the United States, as well. Even on an empty battery, the Outlander PHEV gets about 34 miles per gallon. It has a total range of 310 miles running on a combination of electricity and gasoline.

Where competitors fall short, the Outlander PHEV shines. It can charge to 80% capacity in just 25 minutes with a CHAdeMO quick-charge port. At home on a Level 2 charger, it takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge an empty battery.

The Outlander PHEV is the only vehicle in America with a CHAdeMo quick-charge port
This is the only CUV that offers reliable in-town driving powered completely by electricity with a gasoline backup that automatically kicks in when needed. If you need to jump into busy traffic or travel on the highway above 45mph, your power source switches seamlessly from electricity to gas and back again.

In EV mode, gasoline usage and CO2 emissions are nearly zero. If you switch to Series Hybrid mode, you’ll get the advantage of letting the car’s interior systems control whether it runs on gasoline or electricity.

The Outlander PHEV actually charges itself while driving, so depending on your braking habits and overall speed, you could go much further on a single charge than stated. For longer trips, you simply put the car in parallel hybrid mode.

The best of both worlds: All-Wheel-Control and efficiency
Even on slippery surfaces and in less-than-ideal driving conditions, Mitsubishi’s all-wheel-control optimizes driving stability. Even on tight corners, you’ll have the maximum amount of control over your ability to turn the vehicle.

The warranty offered on the Outlander PHEV is another area where this CUV excels. You’ll get Mitsubishi’s famous 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty in addition to the 5 year/60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty. It’s unmatched in the industry.

Luxury abounds in the Outlander PHEV
The interior of this vehicle feels high-end. Optional leather seats and an upgraded sound system take the luxury up a notch. It’s clearly designed to offer drivers and their passengers a more spacious and comfortable option than any other electric or electric-hybrid vehicle in this price range.

There’s room for five in the Outlander PHEV. Even the base model has beautifully put-together Comfort Tech (C-TEC) seats with visible stitching details. Heated front seats are standard, which is a nice perk of owning this vehicle. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and gloss black interior accents are nice touches, as well.

The 7.0” smartphone link display audio system, as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility, also come with every Outlander PHEV. Enjoy three months of free SiriusXM satellite radio so you can experience the full range of Outlander PHEV’s amazing sound system. Dual USB ports, rearview camera, and smartphone EV remote capabilities are also standard equipment.

Outlander PHEV is one of the safest CUVs on the road
With this vehicle, you’ll get the advantages of some of the most advanced safety features. Enjoy hill start assist, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. Other standard features include RISE body construction with crumple zones, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist.

An upgrade to the Outlander PHEV GTS-AWC gets you adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam headlights, lane departure warning, and forward collision mitigation.

Outlander PHEV is unmatched in this category of vehicles. To see how well it handles and drives, go ahead and schedule your test drive at Car Vision Mitsubishi in Norristown right away. Just call (610) 285-1644.
