More information about the 2011 Nissan LEAF:

Nissan has broken new ground with the Leaf, which is the company's first all-electric subcompact. Unlike the Tesla roadster, this electric car has room for five, and it's being built on a much more massive scale--20,000 are planned to be built in 2011, with 50,000 available in 2012. With a reported MSRP of $33,600, it's much more affordable than the nearest competitor, the Chevrolet Volt, which stickers at over $41,000.

Strengths of this model include All-electric powertain, 100-mile nominal range on an 8-hour charge, driving characteristics of a regular gasoline model

  • The Nissan Leaf - a standout 100% electric vehicle

The Nissan Leaf is the top selling 100% electric vehicle in the world for good reason. Here's why I love the Leaf: 1. It is silent, smooth and extremely fast 2. It is insanely cheap to operate (i've run my 2015 68k miles) saving me $~7k+ in fuels costs vs my 22mpg suv. It's paid for itself and I run on sunshine (solar on my roof). 3. I live in a very snowy high altitude mountainous region - snow tires, traction control, a low center of gravity have proven this to be capable 4. heated seats/steering wheel are luxurious Downsides: 1. Range is limited - EV's don't operate like gas cars - its NOT fill and forget...it's like your cell phone...keep it topped off and range fades as a concern - plus there are literally 100's+ of fast chargers being built across the U.S. which will address longer trips
  • Great mid range electric car

I went to just do a test drive and came back asking the sales guy Where I sign. The car moves very fast but the thing that surprised me more was the suspension feel. The SV & the SL models are the way to go, since they have the navigation system, heating everywhere (even side mirrors) and you can program where you going and give you all the info to get where you need to get with the actual charge you have in the car. The sound system is a plus and ghe interiors don’t look cheap like some other cars in this category. It has been a great learning experience with something totally new(2 years ago) for me, since you have to learn to not worry because you don’t have any gas in the car. No more gas cars for me again !!
  • Average, good acceleration, battery is weakening.

The battery system is starting to get weaker- a full charge is only good for 70 miles or so. Paint is thin. Car is economical to drive and quite comfortable. Has required/received almost no service,
